Sponsorship gives a child the love and support he needs to be able to survive.
Our local partners let us know which children most desperately need supporting. They estimate their needs and make sure that each donation sent is used properly and efficiently. Through sponsorship the child is given :

LEARN ABOUT HOW TO SPONSOR A CHILD! |
enables a child to receive food, medical care and education. The sponsor not only gives the child the assistance he needs to grow and develop thanks to his monthly gift, but he also gives him love and support through the regular exchange of letters and photos. The child gives news at least three times a year, sending photos, school reports or drawings. The sponsor can in this way get to know the child and keep up with his progress. Both the financial help and the loving relationship are essential to the child.
For just a little more each month, you can sponsor a child individually and at the same time help other children who live in the same place (for example, contributing to provide food at the orphanage or at the school canteen.)
If you prefer to sponsor a group of children rather than one particular child, there are two possibilities :
This involves providing financial aid for a long-term project, for example, running a canteen in a hospital or orphanage, or setting up a support programme for the families of children suffering from serious illness or handicaps. The sponsor can choose to finance all or just part of the project.
We have started to support the orphanage in Pinsk ( where Vladimir Saveliev is). They need such things as

In the summer, a single pair of sandals is ok but in the winter it is no good at all). Your gifts will enable the orphanage to purchase the above items.
Meeting specific one-off needs : the purchase of medicine, a wheelchair, an item of furniture or a washing machine, nappies (diapers) for an orphanage, etc. The donor may wish to finance the entire project or just part of it.

Ways of sponsoring a child
You can send your gift each month, every three months or once a year. The amount mentioned here is just an example and if you wish, you can give more depending on the needs of the child you are sponsoring ( there may be a family problem, a health problem or an educational need if he is a student). It is also possible to send a Christmas or a birthday gift.
The sponsor money is sent every three months (in January, April, July and October) to our local co-worker in Belarus.In the case of a child living with his family, the money is given to the parents, after our local partner has checked whether they are capable of spending that money in the very best interests of their child.
If the child lives in an institution or if his parents are unable to cope, it is our local co-worker who is responsible for the use of the money. Sponsorship finances educational expenses such as books, uniform, entrance fees, school dinners, boarding fees… In the majority of cases the other essential needs are met : food, clothes, health… When the child lives with his family part of the sponsor money may occasionally be used to provide help for the family. If the child lives in an institution, the other children may benefit from the sponsor money.
Our co-worker systematically follows up each child : he makes sure all the child’s essential needs are met and that the sponsor money is used correctly.

Our local partners are accountable to us for the use made of the sponsor money. Our association, VISAGE, is intent on being absolutely transparent with regards to finances. However, the best proof that the money has been well spent is in the thank-you letters sent by the children who are sponsored!
